SEGMENTS & FOLLOW-UPS
Follow up with the people who actually did something.
Built for Canadian small business, this is how you stop treating your whole list like one person. Save the clickers, the openers, the ones who never showed up — and write each group its own follow-up.
Clicked, opened or didn't — from any campaign you've sent
Resend to the people who didn't open, with a new subject line
Scanners never count, so your report matches your send

THE PROBLEM
One follow-up, sent to everyone, fits no one.
You send a campaign. Some people click straight through, some open it and think about it, and plenty never open it at all. Then the follow-up goes out — and it goes out to all three groups, worded exactly the same, as if nobody had done anything yet.
The people who clicked get thanked for something they never did. The people who opened but didn't click get nudged toward a decision they'd already half-made. And the people who never opened get the same subject line that didn't work the first time, so it doesn't work the second time either.
None of that is anyone's fault. Most email tools don't let you split a list by what happened inside one specific campaign. Mailer Moose does — the segment comes straight from the send, already sorted.

HOW IT WORKS
From one send, three follow-ups
Open any campaign you've already sent and build the next one from what happened.
Pick the campaign
Open the report for any campaign you've sent, recent or months old.
Choose the segment
Save the people who clicked, the people who opened without clicking, or the people who didn't open.
Write the follow-up
Draft a new email: a thank-you, a nudge, or a fresh subject line for the people who missed it.
Send to that group only
Launch to the segment alone. The audience locks the moment you send, so the report always matches who got it.
IN DETAIL
Three ways to follow up properly
Every segment comes from a campaign you've already sent — no new list to build, no guessing who's who.
FROM ANY CAMPAIGN
Clicked, opened, or didn't — your call
Every campaign report already knows who clicked, who opened without clicking, and who never opened. Turn any of those three groups into a segment with one choice — no exporting a list, no setting up rules.
Pick the group that matches what you want to do next: thank the clickers, nudge the openers, or try again with the people who missed it entirely.
Works on any campaign you've sent
No list-building or manual tagging needed
Three ready-made groups, every time

SECOND CHANCE
Resend to the people who didn't open
A new subject line is often all a campaign needed. Save the didn't-open segment, write a fresh subject, and send the same offer again — only to the people who never saw it the first time.
Nobody who already opened or clicked gets a repeat email, so your list doesn't feel spammed, and your results reflect a genuine second attempt rather than a duplicate blast.
A new subject line, the same good offer
Openers and clickers are left out automatically
A clean way to reach the people you nearly lost
COUNTS YOU CAN TRUST
Reports that match the send
Security scanners open email automatically to check it's safe, and those opens never count toward your segment. What you save is the group of real people who opened, clicked, or didn't.
Unsubscribed and suppressed people are left out automatically too. And once a campaign launches to a segment, that audience is fixed — so if the report says 70 people got it, 70 people got it, not an estimate.
Automated scanner opens never counted
Unsubscribed and suppressed people never included
Audience is locked the moment you launch
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
Every follow-up lands where it fits
Less guessing about who wants what, more emails that actually match the person reading them.
The right message, the right group
Clicked, opened or didn't — split any campaign into the three groups that actually matter, and write a follow-up for each one instead of one email for everybody.
A real second chance
Resend to the people who missed it with a new subject line, while the people who already acted stay out of their inbox.
Counts you can trust
Security scanners never inflate your open numbers, and unsubscribed or suppressed people never sneak into a segment.
Audience locked at launch
Once a campaign goes out to a segment, the group is fixed. Your report and your send describe the same people, always.
No new list to build
Segments come straight from a campaign you've already sent. There's nothing to import and nothing to tag by hand.
Better aim, not more sending
Fewer, better-aimed follow-ups beat blasting the whole list a second time.
COMPARED
Compared to sending it twice
A typical email platform
- One follow-up email, sent to your whole list again.
- Scanner opens count toward your numbers.
- Unsubscribed people can still end up in a resend.
- The audience shifts after you hit send.
- Building a 'didn't open' list means exporting and filtering by hand.
Mailer Moose
- Three ready-made groups. Follow up with clickers, openers or non-openers separately.
- Scanners never count. Only real opens build your segments.
- Left out automatically. Unsubscribed and suppressed contacts never enter a segment.
- Locked at launch. The report and the send describe the same people.
- One click from the report. Save the segment straight from the campaign you already sent.
QUESTIONS
Everything you're wondering about segments

Quick answers about building and sending segments.
What's a segment?
A group of people defined by what they did with a campaign you've already sent — say, everyone who clicked. Build your next email and send it just to that group.
Can I segment a campaign I sent months ago?
Yes. Any campaign in your account can become a segment, however long ago you sent it, as long as its report is still there to pull from.
Does resending to non-openers annoy the people who already opened?
No. The non-opener segment leaves out anyone who already opened or clicked, so only the people who missed the first email see the follow-up.
Do scanner opens mess up my segments?
No. Opens from security scanners are never counted, so your opened and didn't-open groups reflect real people reading real email.
What happens to unsubscribed people?
They're left out of every segment automatically. You never have to remember to exclude them yourself.
Will the audience change after I launch to a segment?
No. The moment a campaign launches to a segment, that audience is fixed, so the report you see afterwards describes exactly the people who received it.
Can I change the subject line for the resend?
Yes, that's the point. Write a new subject line for the non-opener segment so the people who skipped the first email get a reason to open the second.
Do I need a separate list for this?
No new list needed. Segments are built straight from a campaign you already sent, pulling from the same list it went to.
